Resistance Is Futile: Compliance Training Is Here to Stay

Compliance training is a necessary evil for most learning and development professionals, and it can be as painful for us to design as it is for participants to endure. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Join us as some of our experts in the transportation industry share examples of real compliance training that has received positive feedback from stakeholders and participants.

R. Elias Adams is the Senior Director of Learning & Development for England Logistics, a Salt Lake City–based freight brokerage firm. In this role, he leads the training efforts for the company, including curriculum development, new hire training, continuous education programs, sales training, and leadership development.  He holds a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management from Weber State University, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenni, and their three sons and three daughters.

Mara Graeme has been leading employee training and development initiatives for the past 11 years, first at Kaplan Test Prep and currently as the Senior Training Administrator at Utah Transit Authority.  As a lover of learning new things, Mara also spent several years working with a neuro-anatomy biology research lab at the University of Utah where she was also a student, earning a BS in Biology and later an MBA. When possible, Mara loves sharing her passion for the outdoors with youth groups and nieces and nephews. Her passion for learning in her personal life is currently split between her hobbies of rock climbing, sewing, and video-editing.

Gary Hill is an Instructional Designer with the Utah Transit Authority where he supports all business unit training teams. One of his areas of expertise is in compliance training for UTA. It has taken over 15 years for Gary to become the instructional designer he is today with roles such as Training/Curriculum Manager for Digital Technologies, Paperwise, and Eyring Corporation. In June, he will also present at the Learning DevCamp. He keeps life in balance by being an avid outdoorsman, Alaskan fishing guide, and overall Sci-Fi nerd.
