CHAPTER LEARNING EVENT

Impacting Organizational Capability

Beyond Memorization:

Making Learning Memorable

Applying the four-step memory creation process in instructional design to improve employee performance.

Want to improve your employees’ performance? Improve their ability to remember what’s expected.

Our employees’ ability to successfully perform to expectations depends on their ability to recall the details of the expected behaviors in the moment they should apply them. That’s a cognitively demanding process— learn and practice the behavior, retain the details of the behavior, wait, recall the details and perform the behavior.

So how can we help our learners create the behavior memory that will serve them well when they need it?

In this session Amy will map out ways we can apply the existing research in brain processes to our learning and development initiatives. She’ll walk through the four main stages of memory creation and how designers can apply them to learning experiences employees will remember.

She’ll showcase memorable learning solutions that support:

  • ·       An increase in learners’ attention, investment, and engagement using appropriate activities and materials.
  • ·       Personalized options for encoding new behaviors that will transfer to on-the-job tasks.
  • ·       Effective timing and tools to increase learners’ mental storage of new information.
  • ·       Modalities and materials for learners’ timely recall of behavior that will become effective performance of expected behaviors.

Note: This is a virtual learning event.

You will receive a registration confirmation with a Zoom link.
