Evaluating Impact

Getting a 'Yes' for the Initiatives you Need

Session Overview:

Do you spend hours developing a project request only to be told it’s not a current priority?  Are large portions of your budget allocated to other departments before you ever get to see it?  Do you struggle to get the funding approved for all the initiatives you are expected to implement?  Then you need to join ATD for lunch and learn a few simple tricks that will help your needs rise to the top of the priority list.

In our world of limited resources, L&D projects are often passed over for “Revenue Generating” initiatives that catch the attention of decision makers.  A well-positioned project request reminds leadership teams why L&D is important and should be considered equally with all other initiatives.  Your team creates significant value to the success of the organization, but if not properly communicated it will always be overlooked.

Whether you need new technology, headcount, or investment in your own personal growth, this one-hour session will save you several hours on your next request.  Master facilitator, Travis Umpleby, has spent over a decade working with executive leadership teams around the world creating compelling requests that significantly increase win rates.  In this session we will go beyond theory and build a model that you can use immediately.   Bring your teams, collaboration amplifies the results of any project.

About Travis

Travis Umpleby has facilitated workshops and training sessions around the world.  As a sales consultant he enjoys watching teams come together and light up when they learn new ways to approach old problems.  “It is the Ah-ha moments that fuel my fire for teaching.  That instant a person realizes how the concepts we are working on will improve their lives.  That is what keeps me connected to L&D.”  As a professional facilitator and change management specialist he has worked with a variety of companies to identify operational and behavioral practices that limit their success.  Then develop working sessions that create lasting changes and improve financial performance.

Travis joined ATD in 2019 and enjoys collaborating (and commiserating) with like-minded professionals.  He hopes to develop a conference experience that inspires the caliber of professionals and thought leaders he has come to respect in the Utah area.

Travis has a B.S. from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. from the Carroll School of Management.  In addition to consulting, he is an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University in the Information Systems department.

This event is free for ATD Utah Members. Lunch will be provided and the presentation will start at noon.  Please arrive at 11:30 to eat and network prior to the presentation.
